Driving Through the Gauntlet Every Day

I work 12-hour shifts 60 miles from home.  There are numerous speed zones.  I pass at least three state cops, and more locals, on the way.

I’m just a middle-aged mom trying to make a living, and not a reckless person at all. Despite this, having to drive with out-of-state plates through a gauntlet of revenue-generating cops twice a day, earned me enough tickets that I lost my license for 30 months as a habitual offender.

Well, I still had to work.  After tons of research, I decided to invest in a V1.  It seemed like mega money at the time but I appreciated Mike Valentine’s concept of making a quality piece of equipment instead of something that would be junk in a year or two.

I have not been disappointed.  I made it through the 30 months without being pulled over once.  This was almost 20 years ago and I am finally thinking of upgrading to a Gen2, not because my Gen1 isn’t working just as well as the day I got it, but I figure if I send it in and get the Gen2 with the cutting-edge tech, it should be my last ever detector purchase.

Few items anymore, electronics in particular, are built for longevity.  Companies want to make money by selling you replacements all the time.  I truly appreciate Valentine Research and wish others would follow Mike’s lead.
