I just got lucky, no other way to say it. I have a 2009 Z06 Hennessey Corvette, 641hp with a top end of 213.38 mph, more or less.
I was going to the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas. Coming out of Wickenburg, AZ, I passed a Mazda, just threw it down a couple of gears in the late-evening light and let it burn. As I throttled back to reentry speed, V1 went to full shriek. I figured I was toast and pulled over to await the humiliation.
The officer asked me how fast I was going. I thought it was a 65 zone so I said “around 70, or 75.” He said he clocked me at 101. I knew I was over but I didn’t think it was that bad.
He took my license and went back to his cruiser, letting me sweat. When he came back he had a warning ticket. He thought that his gun must not have been calibrated right or added the Mazda speed to the Corvette speed or something.
I was L-U-C-K-Y. Now have a V1 in every vehicle I own and will not leave home without one on guard.
